I have identified a number of Balcomb's/Baucom's all living in Montgomery County Illinois in the mid - late 1800's. I'm trying to prove whether they were related or not and then to work backwards from there. Any assistance that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

I'm researching Balcombes who came from Horne in Surrey, but would like to know if there is a connection with those in Balcombe, W Sussex. I know of
James Balcombe ch 1791 who married Mary Buckland and had a son Melancthon born 1815. Melancthon left England in 1837 after deciding to holiday for 7
years, hard labour, in Australia.

Lyman Adelbert Balcom, born 16 Nov 1901 in Tomuca, IL and died 3 Sep 1974. (I could not find Tomuca, could it be Toluca?) He was an electrician and worked at MGM Studios in California. He was living in Santa Barbara in 1949. He married Pearl E. Norris, perhaps in Oregon. She was born in Barton, OR. They had three children -  Jack Alfred b.1926, Donald Earl b. 24 Jul 1929 in Portland OR, and Betty Joan b.1933. Donald E. Balcom died in Santa Barbara, CA 2 Aug 1949. Listed as suicide. He left a child and wife who remarried. The child was adopted; birth certificate changed. (Still living)

My Father's sister was married to a Bob Balcolme. All I know is that his real name was Robert and that he was married in 1940 at Monkwearmouth church (Sunderland). He is the black sheep of the family. All the others were church going people. I think he was not and maybe a bit of a drinker or gambler (not really sure). I would certainly love to know more.

The only BALCOMB in my data base is Katherine BALCOMB, m. Daniel JENKS in 1694. Daniel was b.19 Apr 1663, Lynn, Essex, Mass. d.1736. I don't have any other info on the BALCOMBS, but if you are interested I do have the JENKS line farther back. If Katherine fits your line I would like to have any info that you have.

I only have one Balcombe out of some 59000 individuals. Lewis Balcombe married Fanny Harmer in Ticehurst, Sussex, England 31 Aug 1879. She was the daughter of Thomas Harmer & Lucy French. I don't know anythhing more
re: him as my source for the info was the Harmer Family Ass'n, which is a one-name society.

I'm looking for the parents of Anne BALCOMBE, b ca 1736, of Cranbrook, Kent; she m 4 Oct 1757 in Cranbrook Joseph BALLARD (26 Nov 1728-15 Aug 1783). She died 2 Jun 1805 and is buried at Sittingbourne, Kent. Joseph died 15 Aug 1783 and is buried at Deal, Kent.

Their children, born 1758-1780 and christened in Cranbrook, were: Isaac, John, Joseph, James, Elizabeth Balcombe, Richard, William, Ann(e), Frances, and John BALLARD.

Could Anne BALCOMBE have any connection with William BALCOMB (1709-1791) and his wife Hannah (d 1773), of Frittenden, near Cranbrook, Kent? They did have a daughter Ann who was baptized 15 Aug 1742. The other children of William and Hannah, born 1733-1751, were: Hannah, William, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Maria, and James.

I'm descended from Anne Balcombe Ballard's daughter Frances, who married William RELF of Cranbrook and emigrated to Chautauqua Co, NY.

I am attempting to trace a Uri Balcom, born 1815, spouse Jane, born 1821, no children listed, in 1850 and 1855 Steuben Co, New York census. I and another researcher have suspected for sometime that Jane might be Jane E. Palmatier whose parents John & Elizabeth Weaver Palmatier lived in Steuben Co, NY 1835/1845 before going to Michigan. They had lived previously in Delaware Co, NY. Jane Palmatier had a brother by name of Sylvanus Palmatier. There was a Sylvanus Palmatier residing with Uri & Jane Balcom in 1850 AND 1855 Steuben Co, NY.

My grandmother was Edith-Mae Balcombe born in England. She married Edward Irving during the first world war and came to Prince Edward Island. They then moved to Pictou County, Nova Scotia. I have a newspaper clipping of what I believe would be her mothers funeral announcement:
Funeral of Mrs. Balcombe The funeral took place on Saturday of Mrs. Elizabeth balcombe (70), wife of Mr. E. Balcombe, of 53 Catteshall Lane Godalming. The local branch of the Mothers Union, of which Mrs. Balcombe was one of the oldest members, was represented at the Parish Church, where the first part of the service was held. Mr. R. Broatch attended the organ and accompined the hymn, Abide with Me. The Vicar (the Rev. H.E. Hone) officiated. The chief morn\urners were Mr. Balcombe (the widower), Mr. and Mrs. F. Coombes and Mr. and Mrs. G. Durrant (sons-in-law and daughters), Mrs. Simmonds (sister-in-law), Mrs. Howard, Mrs. durrant, Mrs. Clarke and Miss Durrant.
