Karen, age 52, passed away in Elma, WA, surrounded by family on October 10, 2012. She was born on October 4, 1960, to Rosemary and William Balcom Sr. in Tacoma, WA.
Karen graduated from Elma High School in 1979, and later went on to ear her AA from Centralia Community College. In 1983, Karen and Darin Holt were married. They had their first son, Brian Holt, in 1984, and second son, Eric Holt, in 1991. She later remarried Douglas Deleasa in 2000.
Karen owned a party supply and decorating business called "Birthday Express and Party Depot" in Olympia, which was a huge inspiration in her life. She became a very well-known event decorator around the Puget Sound area. In 2008, she started her second business called "KD Events and Party Design". Event decorating and planning was Karen's true passion and her number one pastime.
Aside from being a devoted mother and enjoying time with her family, Karen also enjoyed many outdoor activities including hiking and cycling.
She is survived by her two sons, Brian and Eric Holt; husband Douglas Deleasa; grandson Tyler Cleverly; two brothers, William Balcom Jr. and Robert Balcom; and sister Julie Walker.
A Memorial will be held November 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. from 1p.m., at River Ridge Covenant Church, 7945 Steilacoom Rd SE, Lacey Wa 98503.
